Welcome to Carplay Auto Connect (referred to as "the Application"). We are dedicated to providing a professional, transparent, and secure dashboard companion utility. This document outlines our Privacy Policy, required permissions, developer disclaimers, and Terms of Service.

🔒 Part 1: Privacy Policy

We hold user privacy in the highest regard. Carplay Auto Connect does not collect, harvest, monitor, or transmit any user location, Bluetooth connection logs, or media files to third-party databases or remote servers. All features and functionalities are processed strictly on your local device.

1. Data Collection & Processing

  • Location Data: Your precise location coordinates are used exclusively on your local device to load real-time local weather reports and to save your last known vehicle coordinates when you park. We do not store, track, or share your coordinates on any remote servers.
  • Bluetooth Connection Logs: The application listens to system Bluetooth events purely on the local device. This allows us to auto-detect when you start or end a drive to save parking locations offline. None of this data is logged or sent off the device.
  • Local Media Access: The application queries your local storage media directory to let you browse and play your device's audio tracks directly from the unified dashboard. No audio content or file metadata is ever collected or sent to external servers.
  • Local Storage: Any vehicle information (make, model, year) or parking locations are saved strictly inside a local, private Room database on your device. Clearing the app's cache or data permanently deletes all this information.

2. Device Permissions Required & Purpose

To function as a companion driving dashboard, the Application requests the following system permissions. We declare these transparently in accordance with Google Play Developer Guidelines:

android.permission.BLUETOOTH_CONNECT Required to query your active Bluetooth connection to detect your vehicle's audio system. Local Only. No Bluetooth names or IDs are harvested.
android.permission.BLUETOOTH_SCAN Required to scan for Bluetooth devices to help you quickly identify your vehicle's system. Local Only.
android.permission.READ_MEDIA_AUDIO Required on API 33+ to let you select, browse, and play local audio files directly through the dashboard. Local Only.
android.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE Standard media fallback for playing audio files on older Android operating systems (API 32 and below). Local Only.
android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE Required on API 28+ to keep the music playback service running reliably in the background while you navigate. Local Service. Displays a system music control widget.
android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK Required on API 34+ to specify that the background service handles media playback tasks. Local Service.
android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS Required on API 33+ to display system music player and transport notifications. Local Utility.

⚖️ Part 2: Terms of Service

By downloading, installing, or using the Application, you explicitly agree to the following terms:

1. Authorized Use Boundaries

  • You represent that you will utilize this Application strictly within authorized testing limits and standard companion driving situations.
  • You agree not to employ this companion dashboard for any dangerous driving, unlawful, or deceptive activities.
  • You are prohibited from operating or configuring the application while actively driving. Please ensure your vehicle is stationary before interacting with the settings.

2. Limitation of Liability & Indemnification

  • As-Is Provision: The Application is provided to you "as-is" without any express or implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
  • No Liability: Under no circumstances shall the developer or provider of this software be held responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any traffic incidents, device restrictions, or local system warnings arising from your use or misuse of this companion dashboard utility.

3. Contact & Agreement

If you do not accept these terms, you must immediately decline the prominent disclosure dialog within the app and uninstall this utility.
